Planning notes for a 4th of July party

  • Outdoor heat pushes beer consumption up, so buy more than you would for an indoor party.
  • Ice melts fast in July. Buy more than seems reasonable and keep backup bags in the freezer.
  • Coolers kept in the shade hold their ice far longer than those sitting in direct sun.

This is a daytime outdoor beer event. Stock heavily on light, refreshing beers and have plenty of ice. Mixed drinks with vodka and lemonade or margaritas are popular. The table above sizes the bar for a full afternoon outdoors.
